February 23, 2010- Great weather and 1,000 truckloads of snow made for an awesome event in Sarnia at the ISOC Nationals. The 3 Day race consisted of National ISOC racing Friday and Saturday nights and CSRA racing Saturday and Sunday.

Jamie tried his luck in the ISOC Semi-Pro Open National class Friday night to get some track time before the CSRA racing. Jamie made the final starting in the back row and finished 10th at the flag.

On Saturday the sun was shining bright for Jamie’s CSRA Stock class racing. He didn’t get the best start off the line but dove down to the inside of the first corner and made up some positions down the front straight. On lap 2, Jamie experienced a mechanical failure. “The sled felt like it was only running on one cylinder at times” he said after the race. He rode as hard as he could despite the situation and was still able to pass riders finishing 5th. They were able to fix the problem and Jamie went out in Moto 2 and led the race from start to finish with a 10 second difference between him and second. These finishes qualified him 5th for the final. Off the start in the final, Jamie got pinched out and tipped off his sled. The race was red flagged on the second lap due to a rider pinned under a sled. On the restart Jamie nailed the holeshot. Unfortunately luck was not on Jamie’s side as he got tangled up with a rider in the second corner and was tosses off the sled. Jamie got back on the sled and made his way to an 8th place finish.

After 2 days of racing and warm weather, the track was starting to fall apart fast making the track and lines change every lap. In Moto 1 of Semi-Pro Open action, Jamie came out flying getting the holeshot and winning the race with a 9.5 second lead over second. Once again Jamie grabbed the holeshot in the second moto putting him upfront. Jamie led for 3 laps before getting passed. Jamie didn’t give up, passing back for the lead over the table top finish line jump. Making a mistake in the back rhythm section, he lost the lead and finished 2nd. His strong finishes qualified him 2nd for the final. In the final Jamie started the race in about mid pack, battled his way up to 6th before the engine losing power. Jamie kept pushing on only losing one position finishing 7th at the checkered. “I didn’t have any bottom-end power so I wasn’t able to get any rhythm. With the lack of power I couldn’t gain any time, just held my position” said Jamie.

Kyle’s first time seeing the track first hand was in Sundays practice session as Sport 600 only ran one day this weekend. In moto 1, Kyle’s sled got tipped over off the start. Kyle lost some time as his tether cord had wrapped itself over his shoulder and around his neckbrace and had a hard time finding it. Once he got back going he was able to gain back one position for 9th. Kyle got a much better start in moto 2 and battled back and forth finishing 3rd. He just made it into the final with a back row 14th pick. In the final, Kyle looked very comfortable on the sled and had gained a rhythm on the track. He battled his way through the field from back-row finishing 6th.

The next Race for the Supertrax/Steadymate/Byers Motorsports Team is in Kirkland Lake February 27-28, 2010.
